We call ourselves the “Terriot Acadian Family Society”. We are an organization of the Terriot family. While our focus is on North America, our scope includes all descendants of Jehan and Perrine Terriau in the world. We are very fortunate to have a few honorary members from France.
The TERRIOT Acadian Family was founded in 1999 as a volunteer organization for the benefit of all descendants of Jehan and Perrine Terriot. The founder and present Director is Joseph Ralph T. Theriault of Harvard, Massachusetts. The current list of our almost 118 delegates, the Great-Branch Table may be found in the ‘Great Branches of our Family’ section of our website.
The goal of the organization is
- to consolidate the genealogy for all descendants of Jehan and Perrine Terriot, and
- to form a family organization of delegates who each represent their respective ‘Great-Branch’.
We define a ‘Great Branch’ based on the members of our 9th generation, i.e., each member of the 9th generation of our family defines a ‘Great-Branch. The current list of our almost 100 Great-Branches and their migration, the Great-Branch Migration Table may be found in the ‘Migration from Acadia’ section of our website.
So, if your 9th generation ancestor is not currently in our Archive, please contact us. We want to work with you to help develop your genealogy if you don’t already have it documented. Once your genealogy is complete, we will invite you to join our organization as a delegate of your Great-Branch. You will meet the delegates of about 100 other Great-Branches that currently make up our organization.
